AQUACONSOIL

Barcelona
16-19 April 2013

AquaConsoil (UFZ-Deltares International Conference on Systems Grondwater-Soil and Water Resource Management) is the largest European conference on management of soil, groundwater and sediments. The congress is held every 2,5-3 years, and previous editions were in Salzburg (2010), Milan (2008) and Bordeaux (2005). The 2013 conference (12th edition) is planning to make special emphasis on water management in arid and semiarid areas, issues of great importance in Mediterranean countries. Also, for the first time this twelfth edition will include thematic areas related to technical uses of soil such as geothermal energy, CO2 capture and storage, and green engineering aspects related to the urban environment. More than 1000 delegates are expected from around the world, primarily from research institutes, government organizations, chemical industry and environmental consulting and environmental engineering companies.

The congress will held 6 daily parallel sessions, with over 360 oral presentations, 200 posters, and 5 technical visits, as well as an area for booths for companies and institutions. It is expected that the celebration of 2013 AquaConSoil will boost the sector in the Mediterranean area, acting as a platform for networking and providing opportunities for developing synergies between the business sector and the sectors of R & D in the area of environmental technology applied to the soil-water system.
